A hot lunchtime in early September, but where better to be than under the parasols and plane trees lunching on the terrace of Le Petit Henri, L 'Isle sur la Sorgue. We took the set menu of starter, main, glass of wine coffee for 27€ and were not disappointed. An interesting and very fresh watermelon gazpacho to start with for me and a green bean salad with peach quarters, whole peeled almonds and slices of cold duck breast for my husband. A yellow pollack fillet on a bed of crushed tomatoes and topped with crunchy slices of fennel followed for me, while he had the veal on a bed of braised endives and pureed potatoes... yumm! A glass of white Ventoux for me and a pale, pale local Rosé for him...

We know L'Isle pretty well but had never been here before. Lunch was a big positive surprise and a great bargain to boot. We had the daily menu which includes a glass of wine and coffee. The wine was quite good as we ordered more. The meal was a starter and a plat. We did not take the desert, although it looked good. The service was fast and friendly. They spoke excellent English which was funny as we wanted to use our French. We were with our dog and she was treated well also.

We expected much more from a Michelin recommended restaurant, especially at the price paid for the meal. Food was between ok to good, not great. The monkfish main was bland. The Tuna appetizer was nice, not more. The cherry dessert was not worth finishing.

This excellent hotel is in the perfect place to explore this town, and the added benefit of its own car park in a place where parking is at a premium. Pleasant and helpful staff, comfortable rooms. A little on the pricey side, hence 4 instead of 5 stars.
