"There was more water than fish in the fish soup, and it was not good, but the staff were keen to help, looked after wife and daughter , who eat well. Warm summers day, and much to be enjoyed but not the best... Great to eat outdoors."

Four of us visited this restaurant last night. We're not permitted to have an outside table as they were supposedly reserved, although we never saw anyone. After being seated, our drinks order was taken and drinks served very quickly. That's where everything changed. Waited at least 29 min for our order to be taken, no offer to refresh drinks, and when I asked for more water received a look that would turn most people to stone. Super clean restaurant, great view of the Citadel and very friendly staff, unfortunately, the food nothing to write home about. Decent starters being: the fish soup great rouille! and tempura calamari....but very small, mains: average tongue dish with astringent sauce, and the tete de veau, passable, but nothing more....the desserts were poor, very dry citron meringue, and possibly the worst creme brulee that I 've been served in France and I live here ! what should have been a clean crisp caramel top, was in fact a granular sugar coating that was unpleasant in the mouth served with dollops of synthetic chantilly unasked for ...decent coffee.....and interesting to note was that the couc cous...

Something like the best, most outstanding meal I've ever eaten. Epicurean apex. Culinary excellence. I speak no hyperbole. 15 euros: Quiche Lorraine, filet of steak, salmon tartare, brie, salad, frite all on one plate. The house white was sublime, the dessert wine was incredible, the service was friendly and prompt. The ambience was great. If I could give 6 stars I would, *this* is French dining.

Centrally located opposite the famous Blaye Citadelle this family run bar and restaurant, with outside seating, offered average priced food. The special menu at €15 on our visit was Assiette with starters, mains and cheese all on one plate. Staff very attentive and friendly just simply offering value for money food.
