"We went to dinner. The "soupe de poison" is tremendous, really tasty. The good quality was just that obvious that you can only say excelen!. The second dishes kept the high level dnd we have to confess that we had no additional reserve for a dessert. It deserves clearly the general very positive remarks."

The Provencal is an authentic French restaurant run by a local family, this is a busy bustling Bistro with an ambience of all the customers enjoying themselves and being served with personal attention. The Menu is typical south of France cuisine, the Chef is very skilled of which the food is of top of the range quality, Fish Soup, Langouste and all of the other dishes are freshly prepared with care and pride, for dessert the Crème Brulee is outstanding. The service is excellent with a friendly joyous interaction with the customers which makes you feel a partner with the owners. If you require a restaurant with a typical French ambience with excellent south of France cuisine then this restaur...

I'll keep this short and sweet: If you're looking for somewhere with absolutely charming service and excellent food (and cuisine which, whilst not exactly elaborate, is not nearly as simple as the surroundings might suggest) and, most importantly, fresh food - not frozen! unlike so many of the tourist traps down here. France isn't what it used to be. - then here IS the place. No, there's no sea view. Yes, it's on a busy road with only a few tables outside. But who cares?! You can go see the sea afterwards! PS: The Provençal white wine might look like cheap rubbish but it is in fact eminently drinkable - and cheap too! Goes wonderfully with their fine fresh fish.

We had 3 meals in this restaurant and had excellent food and service every time. Most of the other customers in the restaurant were locals and well known to the proprietors. Even "out of season" the restaurant was mostly full. We were always made to feel very welcome and the atmosphere was very relaxed. The food on each occasion was excellent and in a style I would describe as authentic home cooked. All ingredients used were very fresh and the portions, generous. Fish is the main speciality of the restaurant and look for "dishes of the day" on the board. We will be visiting this restaurant again on our next visit to Sanary.

Family run for 60 years. Starters of green salad and Shrimp (heads and shells on) Mayonnaise were substantial and very good. She had a perfectly cooked Sea Bass (whole) served on a vegetable compote and I had the Escalope de Veau in a Mushroom Cream gravy served with Frites (fries), both absolutely delicious meals. I finished with a fantastic Crème Brule and Cafe Elongee (cafe Americana). Total bill including a €13 carafe of Rose wine was €70. Very recommended.
