I have made numerous school trips to Boulogne and made Le Royal a meeting point for my students. The weather that allows the outdoor area is ideal, but there is plenty of space inside. The menu is with something for each pallet on a very competitive price. The portion sizes are more than generous. For the pupils who want to experience the French café culture, it will find that the staff is very patient and helps them practice their French. They are also happy to get links for those who run out of time. Service is fast and efficient and employees are very welcoming. I would take my family here if I visited this area of France.
We ducked in here on a cool, rainy night in October. Staff was welcoming and friendly! Food was tasty and inexpensive. I had the roast chicken (tasty ample portion with pomme frites and salad) and my husband had the minced beef au poivre with pomme...frites. He loved it! Very cozy evening watching the rain outside. Everything else seemed closed on this Monday evening.
We accidentally discovered Le Royal during a short bus stop in Boulogne. The service was very fast, friendly and efficient. The food was very good and was an excellent value for money. Very pleasant, welcoming and relaxing ambience. Pity, due to time constraints, we could not have stayed any longer, but if we are in Boulogne, Le Royal will be our first port of call.
Pleasant location and interior. Armed personnel. Quiet room down. Good internet access. 6.70 for 2 coffee with biscuit.
