"Delightful restaurant full of locals with typical french dishes moderately priced accommodating staff. We had not booked but they fitted 7 of us in, 4 adults and 3 children (aged 10 12) No kids menu at night but found us something they liked"

Two of us arrived with 8pm reservations and immediately felt at home. We each chose a three course entrée+plat+dessert. One chose the sliced Carpaccio Melon and Salmon Gravlax, Beef with Béarnaise, and Poached Pear with Almond Meringue; the other chose Yellow and Red Pepper pasta with fluffed Chauvignol goat cheese and Tomato Gazpacho (Tagliatelles aux Poivron et Chauvignol, my favorite dish of the night see photo), Stuffed Chicken Suprême, and three mini Crême Brûlées: one normal, one with sliced plums, and one with strawberries. A friendly neighbourhood bistro away from the main tourist area but close to the cathedral and only a short walk from the historic centre of this attractive city. There were some interesting mixes of flavours offered on the short menu, but I played safe with steak and chips which was perfectly cooked and served with a pleasant wine sauce. There is a choice of wines by the glass. Fairly priced at 60 euros for 2 main courses desserts, drinks coffee. Worth a visit.

We came here for dinner on a hot summer evening. The restaurant was very quiet with just a few guests. Tuesday evening is not perhaps the big eat-out night. The head waiter/owner? was very nice, but the food was slightly disappointing since we were in France. My tournedos was not perfect and the potatoes that came with it were not to my liking.

My wife and I found this place looking through Tripadvisor for a good place for our last dinner in France. Le Tonnelier delivered and exceeded our expectations. My steak was superb. The owner speaks English and that helped. We did not have reservation but they had a table for us.
