Just had a great lunch at Le Transat, what a great little find. It was very busy on Sunday when we came for a swim and today Monday, they just managed to squeeze the 6 of us in. The staff put a table together for us all let us know only 2 menu de jour remaining. One had the menu de jour which was great and so much for 16 euros, which is a great price for this area. One had the fish (bass) which was also very good. All the rest had bavette with blue cheese sauce and a choice of frites, potato gratin or rice with mushrooms and courgette. It was all very good at a good price in a lovely lakeside setting with lovely staff. We're only disappointed that we didn't find it earlier in the holidays as...
Close to Sallanches are three lakes. One for fishing, one for wind surfing and the middle lake for swimming. On the beach of the swimming lake there is a wonderful summer restaurant. The staff are wonderfully welcoming and the setting is stunning with the chain of Mont Blanc reflected in the lake in front of you. The menu is varied but the best option is the menu de jour. Three courses served on a variety of plates with quality wine glasses. The quality of the food is excellent and at 15€ amazing value. A real must.
Nice place to make a restaurant, but in the middle of August, in addition to the umbrellas to make shade from the full sun, I would put some fan, better those that spray water I would say. The lake alone is not enough to mitigate summer temperatures. If you then expect to sit some commensale near the kitchen windows: super hot!!! Enjoyed lunch even if small portions. Good overall service.
