The Le Vieux Presbytere is the epitome of a local French restaurant that's off the beaten path and has good traditional meals. It's not fancy, but at the same time warm and traditional.Probably the best part for my wife and I was the service, the owner spoke perfect English and was amazingly nice. All of the food was good, I wouldn't call it gourmet but it was on part or better than most of the other meals we've had around St. Emillion. It was also very reasonably priced at €35 for a 3-course menu. My wife enjoyed the wine sampler menu also with 3 wines for €9.If you're in the mood for a French restaurant where the locals truly go, Le Vieux Presbytere is the place for you.

We enjoyed this restaurant because it appeared to have a local feel to it, rather than being full of tourists. It is tucked away at the back of the church square and hence had a nice feel to it. Very little English was spoken by the two people serving (not a criticism but just be aware if you do not have confidence to try French). The food was good but not great as we both felt it was a little dry (lacking any form of sources or gravies). We recommend it and will certainly return on our next visit.

Located next to the church of Montagne this restaurant used to be the residence of the former priest. We are convinced that the quality of the kitchen has increased a lot since the previous owner left the building ! The food is really tops and the service impeccable. Weather permitting the outside terrace at the back of the restaurant is a must.Don't think you are the new owner when you receive the bill !! But after all we will come back.

If you're easily spooked, you might be advised to steer clear of the place- given the proximity to a graveyard. Overall pretty nice place with nice staff. Food was a bit of a mixed bag, with some good starters but just average main courses.
