Leo's came highly recommended and did not disappoint. Street parking is challenging. The staff in the restaurant were excellent. The fish and chips were delicious. The ambiance is eatery modest. Prices are inexpensive. Beer is available. They also serve cod tongues, a Newfoundland delicacy, and more typical fast foods. Check the hours of operation as Leo's closes early some evenings.Highly recommended.

We went here based on all the amazing reviews but i found that the food was almost always just ok but never the best i ever had. Yes the fish was so fresh and great batter - not greasy but I have had better fish and chips. I wonder why here in St Johns the fish is never seasoned? the batter cannot compensate for the bland tasting fish

To be honest, the place is a "dive". Old, outdated, dilapidated. Service - efficient. Clean...well.....needs improvement. But the fish and chips ----- the BEST of 4 places we tried. Light, not greasy, batter-type. Good fries that weren't overcooked. Fish light and melt in your mouth good. Cole slaw - yuck.

As others have stated, you do not eat here for the décor. And to find the restroom you need to wind through the back of the kitchen area. But the chips are great, and the fish is good. Service was very good. Had the medium fish with fewer chips upon arriving in St. John's, a good welcome to Newfoundland. Book a table now

This is a local take out place with a back to the futur look. Food is inexpensive and tastes very decent. There's not much service but the ladies are still nice. I was sad that it wasn't homemade tartar... for some reason I didn't expect that... Anyways for the price it's still worth to try it out.

Absolutely delicious fish and chips! Can't recommend Leo's enough. Be aware they are closed Mondays. Bit of a climb from town but well worth the slog up the hill! Unless you have a HUGE appetite go for the two piece with a few fries.. the portions are super generous.

My family and I went here for dinner on our last night in St. John's (visiting from Ottawa). It was hands down the best fish and chips I have ever had! Incredible service....you have to try the chips with dressing and gravy....YUM! Huge portions - incredible value!

I got fries with dressing and gravy. They were amazing. My husband got fish and chips...also amazing. The portions are huge- we probably could have just ordered one thing and split it. The ladies working at the shop are so sweet and helpful if you have questions. Book a table now

The light crispy batter and generous Portions of cod make this my favourite fish and chip spot in town. This family run shop resisted the franchise craze of others and Serve up the best tasting grub in the area.
