We went to the Paris Flea (Puces) market and were disappointed that Ina Gartens favorite Soliel was closed for good. A local merchant told us about Les Gastropodes, which turned out to be a tiny kitchen with outdoor seating in the Marche Dauphine. We had the chicken Caesar salad and the daily special of chicken and rice. It was really well done. And the apple tart for dessert was just as excellent. Loved it. Loved the cashier most of all. She was hilariously well adjusted to Americans who slaughter the French language.
If you 've been wandering around Saint-Ouen for a bit and are getting hungry for lunch, then Les Gastropodes is an excellent place for some eats. We stopped by and ordered a steak and sandwich. They normally have a sandwich is only for take away policy, but since I was ordering a steak they were very nice and allowed us to dine at one of their tables. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is unbeatable. You 'll have a memorable dining experience at this small brasserie.
I would argue that this is the best food you will find in the area, but that is not saying much. I am very much so frustrated with the service, as the waiters did not tend to us, often forgetting items we had ordered. The food, moreover, was subpar and expensive, once again targeted at tourists, and certainly not worth it in my opinion. All in all, Les Gastropodes is more like Les Catastrophes.
I just wanted to have a Smashburger and fries. We're in the Paris flea market. I was over hungry. So I said what the heck let's try this place. Before I tried it I looked it up on yelp. 4.3, my kind of score. so Smashburger in Paris France we go. It was excellent.
