When we booked for Lascaux II we were given a leaflet outside the Ticket Office for a free Aperitif if we had a 2 course meal. After a fascinating visit to the caves we thought we would try Les Terrasses. We were shown to a table, given a menu which only gave 2 prices for Menu Formule and a la carte. The €14 menu was a buffet. We were then ignored for 10 minutes. We noticed that people returning from the Buffet had only Sausage and chips on their plates! So we enquired. The Buffet was a reasonable selection of salads for the entree; sausage chips for the plat and a large slab of solid chocolate cake+yogurt for dessert. We were given a leaflet to go here whilst waiting to buy tickets for Lascaux II outside the tourist office in Montignac so we thought we would try it. The waiter was great very friendly and helpful. That's where the enjoyment ended. It's a buffet style where you go and help yourself. The starter was ok, but cold meats and a bit of coleslaw was about it. The main course was chicken and vegetables. No potatoes or pasta. Really really poor. The dessert was profiteroles, fruit salad or ice cream. Very, very average food at best. It's such a shame as the setting is lovely.

We are lucky enough to live close by to this restaurant and have enjoyed every one of our meals there since their opening earlier this year. The food is superb interesting menu, well cooked, beautifully presented, excellent friendly service (English spoken) and a really good and reasonably priced wine list including house wine by the pichet (jug). We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for something more than the cafe style cuisine on offer in town for tourists.

We saw the sign of the restaurant with a nice menu for a good price and a recommandation of tripadvisor, so we walked up the hill and when we were at the empty terras a man was talking to somebody else and say to us we are full and continued his conversation. This was so rude, that we never went back in the three weeks after. There are some nice restaurants in Montignac, where people are nice. So our advise is to look around and NOT go here.
