We booked on line and knew it was Sunday lunch all day Sunday. We were seated immediately and they have a nice wine list with wines other than their own. We booked evening meal to celebrate my 73rd birthday and my wife's birthday. We birh ordered the Black Pudding Scotch Egg to start and when it arrived we both looked at each other and thought what is this. It was half an egg wrapped in...some form of coating. For main course I had the sirloin steat and that was it, all sides were £5 extra per portion, my wife had the seafood linguine which was spoilt by the excess of chilli they had added to the dish. I've got to say the service in the main restaurant today terrible. The young blonde girl that attended our table couldn't have been any more unwelcoming if she tried. First 2 courses were lovely, when asked if we would like dessert menus were literally thrown...onto the table. We were glad to see it wasn't just us and she had the same attitude to others. Dessert was also a big disappointment, I think going for these deconstructed desserts are a big risk and just put together the flavours so that you can enjoy the experience would be better. For 2 good courses I have never left a restaurant so flat and disappointed.
Afternoon tea not the best but not the worse. For the price I would say average. I think more than one coffee should be included in the premium afternoon tea. No complaints and the setting is really stunning so definitely worth a visit. I...would like to return for a stay over and dinner in the restaurant. It would be nice to eat out on the terrace on a sunny day but I do appreciate that afternoon tea and outside eating doesn’t bode well
