Went to L'Oliva in Darmstadt for the first time today. A wonderfully beautiful atmosphere, very imaginatively decorated with wine utensils. A very pleasant and extremely caring service, even the boss came to the table several times. The amusement oil with olives, Parma ham, still warm bread, olive oil and coarse salt already enticed the taste buds. The starters, beef carpaccio with scrambled eggs and truffles, were a completely new experience and the trilogy of tuna, salmon and monkfish served with mango, avocado and orange fillets was a taste explosion. No other exquisite ingredients are revealed. You have to experience it for yourself The main course is US roast beef tagliata and saddle of...

Fully crowded Saturday night – a sort of new hotspot in Darmstadt. The 2 new owners inspired this place by reconstructing the ambience and the menu.Appetizer: in these days you should go for the beef-carpaccio with a sort of scrambled eggs and generously covered by truffles. At the table my partners enjoyed and smiled – while I was fully satisfied with luke warm pulpo, potatoes and celery.Main course: you can dig into large portions of “the fish of the day” or “veal” or the recommendation of the chef – “tribe al gusto” that day (very good if you like this sort of dish). No question: the dessert are served in style as well.Within the list of wines you will find a lot of Italian white and red. This was a backup choice as the other 2 Italian restaurants I tried to book were both closed for the holidays and I was not so convinced. However, the place is really great, starting by the friendly servers, followed by a very good house wine and the overall busy but cozy atmosphere. Food was quite good too: The appetizers upfront (bread, olives, prosciutto, olive oil and different types of salt) were perfect, the grilled octopus and calamari fresh and tender and not too "crispy" (i.e. burnt). The pannacotta with berries as dessert was definitely the right ending - not too sweet and almost light. Will definitely come back!

Have visited several times over the last years since L'Oliva took up residence, and most recently, about an hour ago. Small menu, but interesting dishes and a few daily specials on offer. We had a pizza and a pasta and side salads and found them to be fresh and very tasty. Served by a young waiter, who was remarkably efficient and very polite too. So - no qualms in recommending the restaurant based on this evening's experience.
