"I heard about Longrain but was disappointed at my visit there. I ordered Salt and Pepper tofu and caramelised pork hock. The pork was overfried and hard and the sauce was not mixed very well. The salt and pepper tofu was better but not special."

Ordinary food; Extraordinary price We ordered eggnet salad, stir fried kingfish, hock, two jasmine rice. Eggnet salad is fine. The salad is common Thai Style salad for foreigner, which means only sour and sweet. Stir-fried Kingfish is disappointing. $36 for just 4 small pieces of fish fillet. Their failure to appropriately use herbs in this dish makes the fish bland. The signature hock is good but within expectation. I don't see complex cooking technique behind this dish. The sauce is just sour and sweet and it fails to mix with the hock.It may be a signature dish of this restaurant but it have no chance to be that of any restaurant in Asia. Fusion food is the result of chef's creativity...

On the expensive side for Thai food but it was quite nice. Ordered the banquet for three and there was plenty of food and a good selection. The service was adequate but the restaurant ambience however was terrible. You are dining at long benches that are too wide to have a decent conversation with fellow diners opposite and the rooms poor acoustics make this so much worse. This makes for an overall average experience.

Atmosphere was boring and the portions were small quite over priced too - the squid entrée was $35 - twice when the waiter came to take my order he quickly said "I'll be back in one moment" only to help people to their seats. I found that a little strange. I can only compare to what I've experienced else where and Pothong Thai in Newtown out stripped Longrain.

My boyfriend took me here for my birthday last year and it was amazing! Honestly probably the best place I have been in Sydney. The flavors were insane. Everything we had was so delicately put together and the combinations are pure alchemy.  The cocktails are top notch. Make it a top priority to go here.
