With an increase in business, it seems they no longer feel the need to work hard to earn our patronage. Prices have gone up, but service has gone downhill, and now we find ourselves bringing our own food, utensils, and even water to the table. It honestly feels foolish to be paying these prices for such subpar service. It seems the goal here has shifted to doing the bare minimum while maximizing profits from customer traffic. Each visit has left me feeling disappointed, so I’ve decided not to return. Whether the issue lies with the owner or the overall culture of the place, it’s hard to say, but it’s clear that something has been seriously amiss for quite some time.

Pricey? Yes. Perfect? Yes! We were looking for a replacement for Swedish Bakery Princess Cake. Ordered two online for pickup—the store is absolutely gorgeous. Staff immediately found our cakes when we walked in. The owner noticed our boxes were missing stickers to close the lids and came over himself to add them meticulously. The cake—possibly better than the original Swedish Bakery (ever so slightly less sweet), and definitely with a sharper, more modern look. One 8-inch cake was enough for 20 modestly sized portions. Definitely going back for more cake and to try all the other stunning pastries.
Unfriendly Service! I must say, I’m surprised that a beautiful place like the Andersonville location of Lost Larson has such an unpleasant atmosphere. The consistently negative attitude of the staff really detracts from what could be an enjoyable dining experience. I’ve returned multiple times in hopes that things would improve, but unfortunately, that hasn't been the case. Rather than enhancing the customer experience, they seem to be going in the opposite direction. Choose wisely when it comes to spending your time and money here, and best of luck.
Lovely atmosphere, delicious offerings. Our visit (one drink and one bakery item per person was more pricey than expected, but my budget was limited to begin with. It was a good opportunity for me and my sibling to treat ourselves towards the end of her visit. It was a hot and breezy outside with lots of sunshine, but sitting in the front corner nook by the windows was comfortable- especially with the air conditioning. Also, the princess cake slice was huge. : Book a table now
Jacob H. 's review said it all, far better than I can. Despite the very lovely pastries and staff, I cannot leave a positive review after the unpleasant surprise of a forced 15% gratuity at the register. I 've worked food service and have always been a generous tipper, but this is getting ridiculous. Build your expenses into the price of the food. I will not be returning.
It's hard to leave a positive review, because the forced gratuity is so incredibly shady and no matter how good the food may be, leaves a bad taste in my mouth.I'm all for providing tips for good service, but it should not be on the patrons to pay your staff wages. That being said, the food was good. The staff was even helpful and friendly.
Absolutely amazing! This is the best coffee I've ever had in Chicago. Make sure to go early or place your order ahead of time, as the pastries disappear quickly. I tried the princess cake, but I would return every day just to sample their different pastries. They offer their own unique coffee blend, which makes it even more special.
little bakery with rotating menu and fresh goods. cinnamon rolls are huge, and the hint of lemon in the icing added a nice dynamic to the flavor. it was fluffy but also dense. cardamom bun was good and chewy. a little pricey but i’d be interested in trying more. Book a table now
Lost Larson is an adorable bakery-cafe in Chicago. Their coffee is really delicious, and their bakery looks tempting and smells amazing. I tried their Kouign Amann, and it was crispy, sweet with a touch of saltiness—absolutely delicious!
Phenomenal bakery and coffee shop. The Afternoon Tea Bun was like biting into a citrusy pillow. I can’t wait to go back and try more of their baked goods.Verdict would recommend go back.
