"It's hard to get a poor meal in France, but they manage to serve them here. Our meal was very disappointing, both in size of portion and content. I think they rely on their location (the restaurant is immediately in front of the Roman Theatre) to attract customers."

Stopped in Orange on our drive back to London from Barcelona. This is a great little restaurant across the road and so close to ancient Roman ruins you can almost hear the centurions. The wine list is extensive and the food was absolutely delicious. We expected to struggle with the menu and wine list but Erik was on hand with a big smile, warm friendly attitude, and perfect English. Rather than order a bottle or two of wine, Erik asked our preferences and then very patiently helped us sample glasses of different local vintages. Then smiled knowingly as we drooled over each. The wines were so delicious and enjoyable that the food almost became incidental. However in fairness to the chef, that...

While we were on the search for the Theater restaurant (which was closed on Sunday although TripAdvisor mentioned 'open ' we were happy to find this little gem. We took two specialties a large carte (saucisson and boudin , and an all time right, hamburger du chef. All three were far beyond expectations. The open wine was great company as well, although we saw that there was much more serious stuff on the wine list. One of us took the obligatory (and bruleed sur place 'creme brulee ' which all of us loved. The restaurant itself breaths 'France ' and you feel directly comfy together with the other guests and the owner. You would almost forget that the restaurant is in front of the Antique Roma...

We called in Orange as a family of 5, our youngest twins being 3. We visited this restaurant for lunch. The children 's menu is two courses, the desert being a chocolate mousse served in a glass jar. One of our twins accidentally knocked hers off of the table and it smashed on the floor. The owner came out and told my husband 'we have had 1000 customers this month and not one person has smashed one of these, this is not free. You will be charged ' then turned to my daughter, who was already upset and shook his head and 'tutted ' at her. Horrible, horrible man! The one and only toilet is also disgusting with urine all over the floor and toilet seat!

Arrived in town to see the theater and stopped for lunch at this Rick Steves recommendation. Too cold to sit outside. We were served by a chic and efficient waitress. I had the hamburger that included cheese, an egg, and bacon breakfast and lunch together! My wife had the trout followed by a creme brulee. The food was good, it came quickly, service was excellent despite having only one waitress for the entire restaurant. I would eat here again.
