I shared the fried rice with my toddler, and it was the most disappointing fried rice I’ve ever had. First of all, they serve your food in a plastic container even when dining in. Everything came wrapped in a paper bag, so I had to unpack it myself. The food itself looked unappetizing. Although I ordered fried rice, it wasn’t even fried; the rice was nearly watery with a bland, soggy texture. It seemed like they just mixed everything with some sauce. NJ doesn’t have as many Vietnamese cuisine compared to Brooklyn/NYC so I’m used to a different flavor. I can see how this place attracts other people in different aspects— service is great, neighborhood is nice and quiet, and the interior is inviting and comfortable. The menu is simple and easy to read. However, this spot serves mediocre Vietnamese cuisine relative to my experience with eating it in other ethnic neighborhoods in Vietnam. I tried the Chicken pho it was decent but definitely over seasoned with sugar salt(idk how that’s possible). The chicken was dry but it covered with soup so I’m not sure how they did that.
I'm not impressed. The pho was ok, I've had a lot better. I wish I had realized it's basically a takeout restaurant. We had planned to eat there but when it was ready they handed us a takeout bag with everything. Lots of plastic waste when we ended up eating in there anyway. The toppings provided were also pretty disappointing no basil at all and like 1 sprig of cilantro, maybe 4 slices of onion it was basically just noodles and broth. Sucks that I drove 30 mins for below average pho but I guess it's my fault for not reading the reviews more carefully.
First time ordering here. Ordered the duck bao buns, Vietnamese salad with basa fish, and Thai Iced Tea which were all decent. The bahn mi wasn't really toasted well and it was soft. But oddly enough, half of it was burnt where you could see the blackened part, and it was salty. The pad thai had a weird smell and taste, so had to throw it out. I wouldn't go again. There’s much better pho not too far from here for about the same price. Very fast foodie atmosphere and a little over priced for the quality and protein quantity in their pho. Back in the 80s this place was the local video store, Accent On Video. Today it's where all of Closter gets it's morning coffee, egg sandwiches, toasted everything bagels with vegetable cream cheese and Kristal is there to make it all happen.
