I ordered the fish and chips, while my wife chose the BLT. We both opted for Guinness as our drink. The fish and chips were decent; the portion size was generous, but the breading on the fish lacked flavor. On the other hand, the chips (French fries) were freshly cut and cooked perfectly.
My wife's BLT was great. It had just the right amount of bacon—neither too much nor too little. Although there was no mayo on her sandwich, she hadn’t requested it, and they didn’t ask her if she wanted it either. The bread was nicely toasted.

We just had a couple of beers here nd no food, so not rating the food, the server at the bar is super friendly and his suggestions on the beer were perfect and good ! We were already a little tipsy and ended up drinking 3 beers each just because of the service...loads of history , the place got burnt down and rebuilt again ! Definite visit for a beer if you're ever in Charleston!
Always loved madra rua when I lived in Charleston. Recently went back and visited the pub for the first time since the rebuild. Loving the outdoor bar area. The handbreaded Buffalo tenders are top notch pub fare. The service is always on point. I'll continue to go back every time I'm in town!
Madra Rua was nice and quiet. Our server was excellent and quick to recommend things to us. The house kettle chips with ranch dressing work excellent those in themselves were a meal. I highly enjoyed the different Irish whiskeys. Can't wait to go back with a larger group of friends.

This place perfectly represents an authentic Irish Pub. I enjoyed the atmosphere and service. The food was exceptional. I left feeling full and satisfied. The corned beef and cabbage was exquisite.Dietary restrictions: I have celiac and they accommodate for that well.
Delicious food! I usually come here for the burgers, but everything I've tried from the menu has been fantastic. The burgers, corned beef and cabbage, shepherd's pie, and Irish eggs Benedict (from the brunch menu) are just a few highlights!
I love this place. The food is fantastic, the beer is cold, and the interior looks like a real Irish pub with little nooks and booths that you can sit in away from the hustle and bustle which makes it perfect for business meetings.
The steak sandwich was absolutely perfect, and the interior of the restaurant has a unique yet appealing vibe. The service was excellent as well.
