Was looking forward to eating here and trying the Toutons after reading the reviews and having never had one before. Had the special, fish cakes, beans and toutons. The fish cakes were large but were more potato than fish and very salty. Beans were ok and I really enjoyed the touton and molasses. The server who was very friendly but forgetful forgot our initial order of two cups of coffee and had to be reminded 3 times and I never did get the glass of water I ordered. We were finished our fish and beans before the toutons arrived. I thought it was overpriced for what was served.
The restaurant offers traditional Newfoundland dishes such as All Day Breakfast, homemade Fish Cakes, Fish Brewis, Toutons, Soups, Bake Beans, and my personal favorite, Homemade Bread which makes the best toast. It's like the food your grandmother would make if she were still alive and from Newfoundland. Madrock is not just a restaurant, it's a cultural experience. We dined alongside a diverse crowd of happy customers, from grannies to babies, the fitness enthusiasts to the more laid-back individuals, all enjoying Sunday breakfast together.
I absolutely adore this restaurant. It is conveniently located right next to one of the most stunning hikes you'll ever experience, and it is truly one of a kind. The service is exceptional, the atmosphere is unique and charming, and it has been voted the best place for toutons in Newfoundland by Downhomer Magazine. It's family-run and you can definitely feel the love and care put into everything they do.

We stumbled on this restaurant by chance, and thank goodness we did! I have never had such an amazing touton! This is a gem of a place and the food is amazing! I hope one day we stumble upon it again when we return to Newfoundland!
Excellent food! You must stop by this place. I had a French toast and the Mad Rock Touton. They both were delicious. The touton is pan fried and was nice and crispy. I would definitely go back.
Been going here for years. The owners are nice people so are the girls working the floor. Sausage, bacon, eggs, toutons etc are always good! Its a small spot with a Newfoundland vibe to it.
