Four of us enjoyed a lovely meal at Maestral on a recent Saturday - a repeat visit for us all. Warm and friendly service by knowledgeable staff. The "special" seafood selection varies, depending on the market, so there are always yummy surprises, as well as favourite stand-bys. Among us, we had calamari rings, fish stew, scampi, soft shell crab, blue vein prawns, and a plate of fried lobster and other seafood. This restaurant has become one of our favourite restaurants over the years. It is friendly and the service is excellent. The food is always prepared using very fresh produce and the seafood is delivered fresh daily and is of high quality. Evenings are busy and you would be advised to book well ahead. Lunch times are quieter with the choice of a special menu or the full menu. It is BYO wine and beer so your choices are vast! Tonight, we visited a Mediterranean seafood restaurant to celebrate a family member's birthday. After being seated at 6:30 pm, we were informed that we had to leave by 7:30 pm, which was disappointing as the staff who took our reservation did not mention this. It was unfair to have to leave after only an hour, and we will not be returning to this restaurant in the future.
Went to the Maestral last night with another couple and once again, excellent food with first class service. We all had different seafood dishes ( the house specialty ) and my Scampi was exceptional. Our friends had never been before and were most impressed. Packed as usual, so booking is essential. BYO wine and beer, and only $2.50 corkage.Always a delight to go there.

Being in Canberra, a fair distance from the ocean, you always wonder about the quality of the seafood, but not at Maestral. Fresh and perfectly cooked. And the service is excellent and attentive.Been there twice now, and will return on a regular basis. When you see a photograph of an ex-Prime Minister eating at the restaurant you know you have come to the right place.
One of our local favourites - always enjoyable. The food's interesting and good, the staff are very friendly, the prices are reasonable - the only complaint that I'd make is that it tends to be very loud which can make conversation a little difficult. But we've been there a number of times and never had a bad experience.
The Adriatic Sea influence is only part of the charm of this popular suburban restaurant. The wall art show that Prime Ministers have visited and others have accumulated over 300 meals! I will certainly keep coming back! The seafood is king, but the deserts are also worth tasting.
