Maharajah - Table reservation

This was our fave indian takeaway in the area, we used to order online but now they have added a £1 delivery fee despite advertising free delivery. I wouldn't normally moan about it but it's false advertisement. The food is nice the majority of the time however we ordered for daughters birthday (this was in march) and onion bajis were raw and mint sauce tasted like plastic. When we called up we never even got an apology let alone an offer to replace anything. We understand that that was a one off but thought it worth mentioning. This used to be our go-to Indian restaurant, but recently the food quality has declined. The chicken is now dry and tough with a bland taste. The menu prices are also higher compared to other restaurants in town. There are much better Indian restaurants in the area. We were promised a 45-minute delivery but received our order after 1 hour and 20 minutes. We will be avoiding this restaurant for a while.

Waste of money ordered a takeaway tonight saggy popadoms and my chicken Jalfrezi was mild and no favours at all. Chicken strips was like rubber. We ordered papadoms which was saggy. My husband ordered a mushroom rice which was paid for and not in the box. This happens every time you order from this Indian. We shall never return again.

I really enjoyed my meal at this restaurant. The food was delivered piping hot and was on time. I have ordered from this takeaway multiple times and have always been satisfied.

I live in Colchester and wild love a Maharaja branch closer than Braintree. The food is amazing and I can’t find anything like it in Colchester!
