I must confess I am not a steak eater – and I was rather dreading going to a restaurant that solely serves steak. But in the end it was a fun experience. The décor is modern and stripped back. Tables with built in cutlery drawers. A wall of meat behind glass. It works well. The waiter was very attentive and thorough in describing how the restaurant works in both French and English – 1kg steak for one or for two to share, house wine by the cm, pate and bread to start, chips and a small salad to accompany steak. What a brilliant concept! Huge, 1kg, slab of cow, taken from a vast glass chiller cabinet filled with them. You get pate and bread while your Cote du boeuf is cooked to order then served with a heap of salad and chips, all washed down with a very acceptable red, served in a bottle marked in cm and charged at 2E/cm. Seeing a previous review, the wine price has doubled, but is still reasonable for the quality. The beef was a little chewy, as it usually is in France, but the flavour was excellent. The staff are cheery and helpful and the service is prompt but unhurried. We shared a steak between 2, which seemed quite normal looking around the room, the people next to us shared one between three...
Easily the best steak I've enjoyed ever! Cooked to perfection. I managed to eat a core de boeuf to myself after a busy day of walking about Beziers. Staff we nice and attentive. The litre of wine that you get charged for once you have drunk it (they measure it €1 per cm consumed) was great and didn't have to spend time trying to get the staff's atttention for a drink like in most places. Highly recommended!
Pate, bread, a hunk of beef, chips and salad for €14.50 a head! Wooooot! House wine is €12 a bottle, or €1 per cm as they sell it...obviously. It was a really decent red and great with the steak. I’ve had nicer steaks but this place is fun, friendly and unbeatable value. Go. Eat steak. Drink wine. Desserts were nice too.
