Makomae is a hole-in-the-wall authentic sushi and omakase restaurant. Be prepared for a long wait, however, even if you arrive literally when the doors open. The food has always been amazing and the lunch sushi and sashimi combo is always an excellent choice that's so fresh and delectable. If trying to place an order over the phone, you might be calling dozens of times before your call's picked up, just a heads up. The restaurant itself is very small and spacing is very cozy, so maneuvering is not exactly the easiest. Amazing food, but the shop itself can be quite an unorganized chaos.

What a gem! The Premium chirashi bowl was absolutely delicious! And Uni and Ikura don so good you want to squeak with every bite. Japanese uni was tender and sweet, perfect! The sashimi and rolls here are excellent. The edamame and miso soup were fantastic too. It's a very comfortable and laid-back spot to enjoy delicious, healthy Japanese cuisine.
