My hands-down favorite place to eat in Silver Spring, and we have some spectacular places. But Mandalay takes the cake. For those (and there are many) who are new to Burmese cuisine, let me provide you my go-to order. Start with the Burmese Ice Coffee (pictured below) and the Green Papaya Salad (also pictured below). If you have a fish or nut allergy, tell them and they can put the peanuts and fish sauce on the side. I then enjoy a main course of the pork belly with potatoes in onion curry. It’s DIVINE. For those vegetarians friends, the samosas and salads are lovely. Enjoy!

This place is AWESOME. Food is prepared well and staff is friendly. Don't worry about pronouncing the names of the dishes, they are labeled for ease of ordering (ie V-1 Vegetarian #1 and it lists the name of the dish and a description of the food) You will leave the restaurant satisfied.
My friends and I eat here every few months as the food is always prepared excellently and everything we have eaten has been great. The tealeaf salad is not to be missed. The entrees are spiced to order. The coconut ice cream is a treat and we enjoyed eating the coconut itself as well.

When it comes to their food presentation, I have to say that it doesn't quite compare to the vibrant looks of Thai, Japanese, or Vietnamese cuisine. It strikes me as rather simple and unremarkable.
