Our visit this past January 10th was our farewell to Santa Fe after 28 years of living in The City Different. Maria's was part of that life starting with our first visit in 1984 while on vacation. Dare I say Maria's is one of the reasons we moved to Santa Fe? True, the restaurant's ownership has changed and it has had its ups and downs, but for classic Northern New Mexican food it is still in the top handful of eating establishments. I do wishfully think of their red chili, and any return to Santa Fe to visit friends will certainly include a meal and margaritas at Maria's.
This place has over 170 tequilas and 4 pages, front and back, of margaritas. I drank two different types, the Sweetheart, and the smokey one (the name escapes me) and they were amazing. The smokey margarita was my favorite. Also, their carne adovado is to die for. It's not swimming in the chile, like some I have had, but the flavor and texture far surpasses other restaurants.
Found this place on the way home after a long day of skiing. Nice antique place. Fresh homemade food an tortillas. Loved the vegetarian options. They had a huge selection of tequilas and margaritas. Staff was attentive, friendly and thurough. Loved it. Highly recommend it.
Maria's is my top choice for New Mexican cuisine in Santa Fe. Arriving after a 6 hour drive we headed over for lunch. The carne adovada is the best in town and, of course, the blue corn enchiladas are superb.

Wonderful food great service and great local flare. So worth the find. I have the blue corn tortillas chicken so yummy!!!! Very different from our Mexican at home.
I got up to Santa Fe from Albuquerque for like the forth time ever in my lifeI have been in ABQ for 10 years and have rarely been to the capital.
As I ate my way through Santa Fe, I unknowingly became the chile relleno queenI tried it at least once a day at every restaurant we visited.
