Tried here as the reviews were so good but we were left a little disappointed. On entry to the restaurant the carpet was dirty and needed sweeping not the best start. We waited a little while to be asked if we wanted drinks and when we did order they took ages to come despite the restaurant only being a third full. The waiter who took our order came over and said you need to choose your food now please, but abrupt we thought but we ordered. Second drinks too even longer to come I had to ask three times in the end. The food was average, good sizes portions of curry but rice portions were small. Wasn’t the Cheapest for the food we had we wouldn’t return.
The service was terrible, and even though we were a large group, we were often the only customers in the restaurant. We waited over 1.5 hours for our main courses to be served, one of which was cold and had to be sent back. The other dishes were only warm, not hot. The service was poor and unwelcoming. The food was mediocre; some of us enjoyed our meals, but my lamb was tough and had a lot of chewy bits. The dishes lacked spice, especially the naga curries. This experience was particularly disappointing when compared to previous reviews.
I ordered a takeout of lamb madras and vegetable rice from this restaurant. I was surprised to find a large amount of broccoli and what appeared to be frozen mixed vegetables on the dish. I have never seen these ingredients in a madras before and was disappointed. I have lived in Balsall Common for many years and it has been a while since I last visited this restaurant. After this experience, I am not sure if I will be returning anytime soon.
After being recommended this restaurant, we looked forward to eating here but ended up with mixed feelings. Starters were fine and the mains were reasonably tasty, if a little hotter than expected, and good portions, so no complaints there. The problem was the windy after-effects, with bubbly stomachs and several trips to the bathroom over the course of the night. Won't go again.

We have been frequenting Masala Club for several years and have always enjoyed the delicious food. However, we were disappointed by the unfriendly staff, who did not smile at all throughout the evening. Despite the lack of hospitality, we still enjoyed our meals. We encourage the staff to be more welcoming and show that they appreciate their customers.
A very clean restaurant with friendly staff. I’d happily go again. However if I do go again I’ll be far more vociferous in requesting a second pint of beer. No matter who I asked all I got was “Certainly Sir”. Very polite, but no beer. The meal was tasty and plentiful. Mmmmm balti.
2nd visit…. first dined in faultless 2nd time today foodcollected. Popodoms very stale ….speaks volumes about a restuarant 2 dishes Chicken Tilka Masala poor . Overloaded with thick slices of garlic Rice stodgy . King Prawn Massala smells too fishy ….won’t revisit eating in or out
Horrible experience waited 1 and a half hours for our food and didn’t come our multiple people had the same experience wouldn’t recommend and I am definitely not doing there again

Great place for mid week catch-up with some old friends. Excellent food expertly prepared by the chef to our taste. Service was superb despite Merlin not being there that night.
