I recently visited McCrossen's Tavern in Philadelphia and had a decent experience overall. My friend and I ordered the French onion soup and the fried chicken sliders, and while they were okay, they didn't quite blow us away. However, the drinks were solid, and we enjoyed the cozy ambiance of the restaurant.The highlight of our visit was the fact that we had a good time the atmosphere was friendly and inviting, and it made for a nice night out. That said, I do have to mention that the service was a bit slow. I work across the street, and going there, is like the TV show, Cheers. You bump into people you know, the staff remembers you, even sometimes your preferences.Friendly people, operate the place, menu items that don't change are always satisfying. Some specials are pretty imaginative.Excellent french onion soup, difficult to decide which appetizers to get, because they're all so good. But the Brussel sprouts are probably my go-to. And I never enjoyed them, before I had them here.
Have been attending mandatory happy hour at McCrossens since 2004. Lucky that it's only a steps from home but I'd walk past 4 or 5 pubs to participate in their HH sessions.
