As a fan of McLoone's, I had some reservations as I walked into a lively bar area filled with numerous TV screens, high-top tables, and patrons enjoying their whiskey. However, a friendly hostess guided us to the dining area, which features two distinct sections: one is a bistro-like space where patrons can enjoy the excitement of gamblers and sports fans, and the other is a quieter, more refined area tucked away from the betting buzz.

It's just not the same like it used to be. No more specials, just the basic menu where the best food is a hamburger. Otherwise you're just eating your typical bar food from the bag. Although we still attend on a monthly basis on the weekends it is obvious that people are no longer going here for dinner. The waitress staff has also changed over and from experience I can tell you it's because of the lack of clientele and the lack of money to be made. It's really a shame with so much potential that this place has become what it is. Came here for Father's Day with my wife and parents. We made a reservation on Open table to ensure that we didn't have a wait. We arrived on time and waited at the hostess stand for about 10 minutes and no one showed up. We then found a security guard from the OTB and he said just to find a seat. Then we waited at our table for about 10 more minutes and my mother got up to get the menus. After a while more, the poor 17-year-old kid who was the only waiter came up to us to pour water and we didn't have glasses or silverware. At this point, we made the conscious decision that it wasn't going to be a good experience and left for another restaurant.
We asked to speak to the manager, who was indifferent and simply stated that they were busy due to Derby Day, with the kitchen backed up. There was no genuine apology, and she seemed irritated that she even had to address us. McCloone's, do yourself a favor and remove your name from this establishment. I've dined at your West Orange and Long Branch locations, and it's embarrassing to see them associated with this place. Terrible service, poor quality food, and management that clearly doesn't care. It's best to just grab a drink and leave—it's all this place seems to be good for.

I ordered a salad with walnuts, feta, apples, and grilled chicken, and it was quite tasty, with just the right amount of dressing to keep it from becoming soggy. My husband opted for the Turkey Burger with sweet potato fries, which he also enjoyed. The service was excellent; the staff was attentive and the service was relatively quick. I would likely return for drinks and some horse betting, as well as to enjoy that delicious salad again.
Terrible experience. I was treated poorly during the derby event, only to be told, "Sorry, we're busy." Is that the customer's fault? They should schedule more staff. The food was disappointing, and after waiting 30 minutes for subpar dishes, I’d rather go to Buffalo Wild Wings. Trying to place bets here was a joke—just go to the horse track instead. This place really needs to improve.
The food took an excessively long time to arrive and was not worth the price, even with a Groupon. I ordered a flank steak, but it tasted off. They also didn’t have the plantains listed on the menu. They removed the meal from the bill and offered me cheesecake as a replacement, which was a nice gesture. My boyfriend's daughter did enjoy her salad, though. Overall, I won’t be returning.
I visited this restaurant for Mother's Day yesterday, and it's unfortunate to see it so empty! The waitress and the manager were extremely courteous and efficient, providing excellent service. The food was delicious as well. I highly recommend the buffalo chicken wontons. I will definitely be returning!

Great service for such a busy place. Our waitress Alissa was so attentive and the hostess Ronnie was such a sweetheart . Food was fast and delicious . For sure will be back.
