Hmmm, well another Unfortunate expenditure except this one was at The Original Mels Diner. Such tasteless or dish water tasting meal rather other than the buttered sourdough bread which was a lovely choice to have to give me a warm feeling. I had orderedthe vegetarian omelette with country potatoes. Coffee was good with several vanilla creamers. Waitress (young-ish bleachedblonde) had no clue who I am and was very judgmental towards me. Sad morning all in all when I was looking so forward to thisbreakfast for months. Not to mention the music is so loud not even my headphones could drown it out. Oh well, that ship hassailed and I will not be back. The two stars goes towards the cute and class...
We went 6/29 for an early dinner. Our waitress acted like she didn't want to be there and had an underlying attitude about everything she did. The table side jukebox only played 3 of the six songs we chose and we paid $12 for 3 sodas.... that was as much as one of our meals. For 2 meals, 3 cokes and 2 shakes our total was $60! I get inflation but $12 for 3 drinks is absolutely ludicrous. And it's 2024 for God sakes take down them nasty, ugly, covid partitions if your not going to keep them clean!
Mel's is one of my favorite places to eat, whether it's breakfast, lunch, or dinner, I'm never disappointed. On this occasion, my self and 4 others ate for $100.00. Not bad 5 adults. Location is always clean. This location stays open till 12am. I ate at this location during Covid restrictions when they had outside dining and they had great service then as well. I can'tsay enough good things about them. Always a good time.
I've never gotten less than great service at this location. The food is diner comfort food done right. The original eclectic wall art restaurant and one of my goto restaurants for breakfast and lunch. Breakfast specials every weekday, including steakand eggs. My top recommendations are the Chili Dog, Patty Melt, and the Hangover. The chicken strips platter and the samplerare both awesome too.

Not busy but had a comfortable atmosphere. Food was excellent, the onion rings were the best id ever had and there ranch dip was amazing and im not a ranch fan. The burger was okay, but adding the ranch made it so much better.
Always perfect experience at Mel’s honestly, but if you are assigned a snotty waitress, ask for another instead. Don’t let them ruin your gas and appetite. The midtown location is best.
Hubby 's words I want a juicy burger so I said we 're going to Mel 's. Melt in your mouth burgers! We both had the SF burger, fries and shakes. ????????????????????
