M&M was the place that made me sure about my decision to move to Charleston in 2022. My favorite spot was right in front of the bakery or outside. I always treated myself to a pastry or an iced sugar cookie (if they had them), along with the avocado toast topped with a fried egg and salmon, and an iced Americano—they’re all incredibly delicious. I found comfort there, whether I was reading, working on my laptop, or simply people-watching in the rustic and cozy atmosphere. The ambiance is truly unbeatable. The staff is friendly and hardworking, and I was proud to call it my go-to place. I recently relocated out of state but still think about it often, which is why I’m writing this from my new...
As you can see in the picture of my cappuccino, the milk froth isn't smooth and has large bubbles—this indicates it was steamed for too long. It was so hot that it burned my mouth. A cappuccino should never be that hot! When I asked for a replacement, they seemed annoyed rather than apologetic. They clearly need some training, possibly at Springbok Coffee, as well as a lesson in Southern hospitality. I'm unfortunately downgrading my review to one star because of their inability to make a decent cappuccino and the rude service. On a brighter note, I sat at the bakery bar, and the bakers there were extremely nice!
Mercantile is one my my go-to weekday work lunch spots. They often change the some of the menu items, but the food is always spectacular! Today I got the poke bowl, which was full of flavor. Lots of veggies, seasoned rice, seaweed salad, fresh tuna. My husband got the Reuben, which he really enjoyed! We also often get drinks from the coffee bar. They have inside and outdoor seating. The connect bar, Mash, has excellent atmosphere, personable bartenders, and a frequently changing/seasonal drink menu. They also have shuffleboard! Book a table now
Large coffee shop with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Both coffee and food options. Gets a bit crowded, especially on Fridays so there may be a line and a full parking lot. Awesome spot to have informal meetings or work on your laptop. Overall a clean, charming (attached to the beautifully restored cigar factory) and roomy place to have coffee and food items.Parking: While the open air parking lot is fairly large and very convenient, It is shared with other tenants in the cigar factory and can sometimes be full.
This is my favorite place ever. I come here a lot with friends to do homework, or I come alone because I love it so much. The restaurant is in a very convenient spot and the set up of the inside is very cool and the atmosphere is cozy. The smash burger, the chicken burrata sandwich, the avocado toast, and the chorizo breakfast burrito are all 11/10. Their coffee is great as well. Very good for breakfast and lunch
Such a cool place just at the bottom of the Ravenel Bridge! I love the brick building, lots of great menu options, and everyone was kind. I had the largest slice of avocado toast imaginable and it was amazing. I will definitely be back!Dietary restrictions: Great gluten free options!
I stopped by for coffee and a light breakfast, and it was fantastic. It's a wonderful place to grab a coffee, enjoy a small meal, or settle in to get some work done. I also appreciate the availability of parking—a big advantage in Charleston! Food: 5/5 Book a table now
Always love the breakfast wrap, consistent and yummy! The coffee is coffee, hits the spot. Fantastic place to sit inside or outside and get work done, chat with friends or a quick bite. Can get crowded as the food is worth it.Food: 5/5

"I had a wonderful Caesar salad at this restaurant. They also had Impossible meat, which was delicious. The only drawback was that it had a limited menu for ordering at the counter, rather than having a server."
