Terrible night. Was so much better years ago when old chef was in charge! We waited over 15 minutes to be served. We waited over 75 minutes for our food. It is extremely noisy. Could barely hear my friends. There were children with no shoes on running around playing games......On a Saturday evening.......but food is fine dining prices. Inappropriate. The wine is expensive and it is not BYO. I don't think it is appropriate for children to be behaving in this manner when the food and wine is so expensive. Obviously didn't need to pay my babysitter, should have just brought the tribe and let them run around. The risotto was horrible. The meat dishes and ravioli we ordered were fabulous. We were...

I came here tonight with my husband and 2 children (age 7 & 9) to celebrate my birthday. We've been here before and had fond meomories of great Italian food, so I was really looking forward to it. We had the king fish carpaccio, which was well presented and tasted nice but serving was very small which made it a very pricey entree. The second entree was calamari, it was fine but a bit on the salty side. We had 2 pastas for our mains, squid ink pasta and pasta with clams and chilli. Both were delicious and had great texture. Kids had the children's meals which were fine. We finished our meal with a nice cake that we chose from the deli, and asked to have one scoop of gelato to go with it. The...
A family meal the Italian way. At first it appears a little expensive however the antipasto plates are very large. One between two is ample for an entree. We actually shared the calamari between 4 and we were full after our mains. The calamari was light and crispy with tender calamari. My only complaint would be slightly salty for my taste but no one was complaining. I had the pork belly which was cooked perfectly. The fennel salad was a perfect accompaniment. My wife had the slow cooked lamb rump and is was succulent and sticky. My daughters had the ravioli and a pizza. Both were tasty but not special (just good). The wait between the entree and main was a little long but they were very bus...
I normally only write a review when the restaurant is either poor or great and happily this is the latter.I went with a group of 30 from the Sydney vintage wine club and there was a set menu. The 2 entreas to share were garlic pizza and sqid/calamari friction both very tasty along with bread and olive oil dip.The mains were partially deboned spatchcock and twice cooked pork belly, wow, both of these dishes were just fantastic. Best pork belly I have had.Home made Gelato's for dessert and a great coffee to finish.Staff were fantastic and the restaurant is a great mix of deli, coffee shop, bakery, butcher in a huge space.I would definitely recommend it, we all had a great night. We had lunch here just before Easter, and what a revelation. I guess I wasn't expecting too much from a deli restaurant but happy to admit I was very wrong. We shared starters of swordfish carpaccio, lime & mint calamari and a stacked eggplant dish (see photos). Beautiful presentation, wonderfully fresh fish, and we followed this with lovely selection of pizzas washed down with a fantastic Sicilian red wine recommended by our waiter (so good I took a photo of the bottle so I wouldn't forget it and have found a source in Melbourne!). Desserts were also fabulous...tiramisu, gelato and pannacotta. Highly recommend this restaurant for casual lunch.
My group (10 of us) picked this restaurant. It is for those who like Italian food. Lots of pastas and pizzas, reasonably priced, $14-20,but main meals rather expensive, $33-40.Comments ranged from great to so-so. It was hard for me to find something to eat. They were nice and gave me a child's chicken schnitzel. The male staff were very nice. But, at the back of the restaurant there is a delicatessen with lots of packaged pastas, meats, breads and the most delicious pastries you could want.It is licensed and my friend had a very good port.Children are welcome . It is on the main road into Sydney, but there is parking underneath.
I can't give a definitive explanation - the atmosphere was welcoming, the service OK, the food was good but I can't say it was a great experience or that I'm in a hurry to go back. Everything was just "good" - nothing was "excellent" and that's disappointing as the restaurant has the potential to be great. Also disappointing was that the cheapest wine on offer is $50 a bottle and there is no BYO. All in all the value for money was a bit below average.
We booked a table of 9 to celebrate a birthday. We have dined here before in the past and enjoyed it. On this night service was zero so poor, having to call the waitress everytime we required something. Service is key to having a great experience. Pizza was soggi and not great.I will not be gong back ..there are too many other Italian restaurants to choose from in the area. Book a table now
I regularly eat here as my ol favourite La Perla retired after many yearsMercato is well set up and offers a great variety of house prepared pasta ,pizza and tradition fair served with flair .The coffee is good and you can pick up a great panini for lunch .
