During a weekend trip and our first time in Kansas, my partner and I chose Merchants, due to a recommendation from our friends, as dinner for a romantic outing on our last night before traveling back home. Our waiter, Jonathan, was an absolute pleasure to have. We were enthralled by his knowledge on the history of the building, the restaurant itself, and where the food comes from. His personable spirit and extra attentiveness is what truly made our dinner a 5-star experience along with the food which was to die for, and the large selection of craft drinks. We will return to try more of the menu if we ever find ourselves back in the area!
Visiting Lawrence overnight, and dined at Merchants on a busy Saturday night. Seated right away because we had a reservation. So many options for people with allergy and dietary restrictions. Everything on the menu is very clearly marked! We sampled an appetizer special, the beet and arugula salad (amazing combination of flavors), and the airline chicken. They also have a huge selection of beer and cider. Appreciate how much they source from local farmers. We would definitely check it out again the next time we're in Lawrence.
Love this place we have been going for a couple years now. Recently we ordered pick up. This was the first time we have ever had an issue with one of our orders. They got something wrong so not only did they remake our whole meal but drove it to our house as well. The manager went above and beyond for us. We thank you so much and will always be back.
Best experience I’ve had in a long time! Atmosphere upscale casual Service fabulous. . . Thomas was outstanding! Food presented beautifully, a few unexpected flavor combos but done in an effortless way and a nice variety of items on the menu.

Highly recommend getting a cocktail, especially In a Pickle or their Spiced Old Fashion. All the food is excellent, don’t overlook the Brussels sprouts!
We had the Sunday brunch buffet; food was great and the price was fair. Service was lovely and we will certainly be back!
Food was actually really good! It took a little bit longer than what was expected, but the atmosphere was very nice.
