In 2012, I traveled back to California, stopping for some disc golfing along the way after attending the Disc Golf World Championship in Charlotte, NC. While getting gas, I noticed a bar called Mernie's and asked the cashier if it was a friendly place for newcomers. They assured me it was. This place turned out to be fantastic! I enjoyed some cold drinks while camping, and the staff were incredibly welcoming. I ended up playing pool with a father and his son, and the atmosphere was lively with great people all around.
