The food at this little cafe in Murias de Rechivaldo is excellent and includes more vegetarian choices than I saw anywhere else on the entire Camino! The bread is all home-made, the vegetables are organic, and the ambiance is warm and caring. The owner, Pilar, obviously loves what she does. The morning we went there it was a bit chilly so we opted to go inside to eat. Pilar was playing the most exquisite music (the Spanish tenor Rolando Villazon and her food selection went way beyond the typical bar. I ordered a vegetable sandwich (which was actually all vegetables!! on the most amazing bread. It was delicious, as was the coffee. I wish I could have stayed to sample more of her food! She off...

Way before we got here, in fact earlier the day before as we entered Astorga, we were given a flyer directing us to Meson El Llar. Language difficulties meant that I didn't understand that the meson was in fact a few kilometres past Astorga. So we stumbled upon the place by mistake. We'd walked out of Astorga without breakfast, and were delighted to do so. Nice coffee, great snack, excellent vegetarian options. All in the quaint and quiet little town of Murias de Rechivaldo. Title says it all. I had a good coffee here. The place is nice and all the food is well presented. The sandwiches are made with nice bread. However the woman behind the corner has been definetly had not her friendliest day
