My wife and I had a meal in the Met Su Yan restaurant a few years ago and thought the food was above average, expensive but enjoyable. Yesterday evening we decided to have a takeaway meal and thought that we would try MSY again. The food was expensive two mains 2 spring roll starters came to £58. (we are happy with the rice and noodles we use for our home made meals so we kept to them) It also arrived suspiciously quickly within 15 minutes including the journey from Golders Green to Finchley. The food was poor to very poor. The spring rolls were dry and the contents (one set veg the other duck) had minimal taste. I nearly didn’t go as when I popped my head in to ask if they were open said head was snapped at by a very angry looking lady. But I was interested to eat in a kosher Chinese restaurant. When I went back she still looked very angry and almost reluctantly took my order Then an argument sounded domestic took place in the kitchen very loudly My food was practically thrown on the table and the request for a glass of water was met with a harrumph My noodles and chicken and ginger were very tasty The chicken dim sum filling was very tasty the wrappers weren’t quite cooked I think their prices are a bit steep And after seeing how the other diners were treated I wouldn’t rush back
This was the second time I have ordered from Edgware branch, the last time many years ago. I had forgotten about the standard of the food and decided to give it a try. This was a delivery made to our home and we were hungry and looking forward to our meal.... We sat down with anticipation and was sooooo disappointed, my partner struggled but ate nowhere near his usual portion). I on the other hand could not eat the food it cost £65 and went in the bin. When my partner called the restaurant very politely, the attitude was not what can we do to fix the situation but a shnip at the other end proceeded to argue. Will NEVER waste my money on this place again..yuck!!!!!
We ordered a takeaway from Met Su Yan. It came within fifteen minutes. (They're five minutes away) This made me think straight away that the food wasn't freshly cooked, just heated up. We ordered half a Crispy Duck. This was actually pretty good and there was plenty. The only thing was, that although it was advertised as for 3 to 4 people, there were only six pancakes. The main dishes were very ordinary, and poor. As for the rice, it was also unappetising. The jasmine rice was without flavour, and the egg fried rice not worth eating. Al in all, we would not order from Met Su Yan again.

As a family we have ordered twice in a month whilst in lockdown. The food arrived piping hot and bang on time. We ordered by phone in advance and we received everything we ordered. The sesame chicken toast and duck pancakes are a must have. After lockdown we will visit the restaurant. As an added bonus the food is kosher. Our experience is based on their Golders Green Branch. Can therefore highly recommend this restaurant.
this institution has been around for a decade or two. I tried two items- Hot and Sour Szechuan Style Soup and lemon Chicken The Soup was reasonable but the heat came from chillis and not szechuan peppers. The chicken was good. I was warned that the potions were slightly on the small side and for the price [and the atmosphere may justify the prices] that was true Jasmine rice was another 6.95 British Pounds $US9
Ordered takeaway. Portion sizes laughably small, literally 2 spoonfuls for a dish costing £16. Tasty but seriously overpriced for unacceptably small portions. Poor customer service, promised to get back to us to discuss our complaint but never bothered.
V dry noodles and dry burnt duck, minute portions felt I’d thrown £50 away. Had before was so much better. Perhaps it’s a lack of chefs? Tried to complain found it was an uncomfortable experience

Can’t fault the excellent service and food from Met Su Yan. Plenty of gluten free options and they perfectly cater to all allergens. Delicious food
Managed to get a last minute table, shame our details weren’t taken for track and trace. Definitely important nowadays.
