If you are looking for a real USA cooking experience, this is the right place for you! This is the classic american diner that you can find in various movies and tv series. I reached the restaurant late in the evening after an intercontinental flight from italy but despite the time, the kitchen was open and ready to deliver dishes of any kind. My experience was quite good, the food was tasty, the service fast and the staff well prepared.
Absolutely the best breakfast spot in New York! I was staying at a nearby hostel, which was really comfortable, and I found myself visiting Metro Diner frequently. I tried the pastrami sandwich and the American cheese omelet, both of which were incredibly delicious. The service was outstanding—everyone was kind, friendly, and attentive. They even made sure to refill my coffee! This is truly the best diner in New York!
This is a bit of a mixed bag. The food is fantastic, and the place has a charming old-school diner atmosphere. Unfortunately, our experience was marred by our waiter, who seemed disinterested and more focused on his coworkers than on the customers. It's a shame, because the pancakes were outstanding, and the staff at the front of the house were very friendly. Book a table now
After Years of trying to find “ideal” NY diner on both UES/UWS and Downtown. Metro and its sister properties fill that void across the board. While it is historic or famous it maintains a level of consistency, service, quality and cleanliness almost unheard of for a diner in such a great location and at an approachable price point.
Ordered a breakfast quesadilla and it came with chicken despite the online ordering not having chicken listed. I called and they made it a second time with the same issue. When I complained again they said they didn't understand the issue the first time. They were slow and difficult. There are better and more reliable options.
Good “ diner” good food portions. I wouldn’t call it a diner since it had restaurant menu prices( not your usual diner prices) . Food was good. I’m not very picky with cleanliness but the menus was wet and dirty, could just wipe them off real quick before giving them to someone else.
