I have been going to Mezza Luna for years and have always raved about the food! The front of house used to be run by the lovely Anna and in those days it ran like clockwork all was perfect! Last Wed we turned up and apart from some hand gel as you walked in there were no Covid measures in place that we had seen in other places. No temperature checking, no screens, staff nor wearing visors etc.. 2 of our group left almost immediately as they felt so uncomfortable. The service was at best chaotic, which we did not mind so much as they had 3 new staff under a week in the job and you could see they were doing their best. Usually, Mezza Luna is one of my favourite restaurants in Cardiff so I was looking forward to finally visiting after lockdown. On arrival I was told quite bluntly that I had booked a different time (I hadn't) so we would have to wait for a table. We waited half an hour to be seated. We then waited a further hour for our food, by which time (9pm) we decided to pay for our beers and leave. Mezza Luna has been a favourite haunt of ours for several years. We popped in with a family member last night, and the food was as good as ever, front of house was not. There is hand gel at the door, and screens separating tables have been installed. But waiting staff wear no masks and appear to be oblivious to the fact that there is something called COVID-19 in the air. Menus are paper and not wiped down, staff delivered water glasses to the table with fingers firmly inserted into them, extra cutlery was handed over unwrapped; I could go on. Having walked out of another local restaurant as it was no means covid safe or legal, we thought we would give this a go and we were very pleased and relieved to have found it!! The food was fresh and tasty with plenty to go round. Slight downside with no draught lager and also ran out of the bottles we were drinking but would definitely return here and it felt safer than some of its counterparts. Noting recent reviews, we found the waiting staff friendly and attentive!

We went here for my daughters 20th birthday table of 20 amazing atmosphere and ambience. I love how the restaurant is decorated we had lovely well cooked meals I went for the mixed grill and the meatballs and all the other food was cooked to perfection. Reasonable price too, very friendly waiting service very helpful and prompt with our food we had an amazing night and will be returning in October cannot wait highly recommend
I’ve visited Mezza Luna on 3 separate occasions and can say that it is the best food I have ever tasted. The pizza is delicious, as if it was made in Italy, the spicy chicken breast plate was to die for! The chefs in Mezza Luna are outstanding and can make any dish taste exquisite! The manager and staff were so friendly and helpful. Currently booking my next trip as I love it so much!
We've been there for family time, the food was extremely good, we eated very well but the service was horrible, the waiter didn't know the Plat, even what they served. It was confusing. But I recommend for the food,because it was delicious.
Really enjoyed our meal here; the food was lovely and the staff very friendly. The decor is a little odd, but unlike many other restaurants on city road this one has a liquor license so we didn’t mind too much.
