The food was great. The location in Newark is right on the main drag where a lot of new hot spots are opening up in this developing area. The ambiance was nice, laid back, and the noise level was reasonable. My main complaint was the service, and especially the fact that the hostess never addressed my OpenTable reservation. When I later contacted OpenTable to see if the reservation even went through, they said it was still pending, which means the restaurant never acknowledged receipt of the reservation. We were going to a concert and needed a place to eat in walking distance to the venue. I picked this place after reading the reviews and so glad I did! The service staff were very attentive and welcoming. The atmosphere was cozy we sat outside, the food was delicious. We ordered a bunch of tapas and entree it was only of us and shared everything. Everything we ate was seasoned well, never needed salt or pepper which were not on any table. The only reason I gave the food stars was because some of the tapas were not hot when they were served. I would definitely go back again and bring my friends and family
We were looking for a place for early dinner before a recent show at the Prudential Center. We had a short walk from the train and a little farther walk back to the Center. When we arrived, we were the only patrons. Soon after the place started to fill and was quite the place to be. The staff was attentive and friendly, the food fresh and tasty. We even enjoyed the music and hope to return
Delicious drinks, and the complimentary bread and salsa were fantastic. The flatbread was bursting with flavor. Ending our midday snack with coffee and flan was just perfect. We sat at the bar, where the bartender was both attentive and helpful while still giving us enough privacy. I definitely recommend this place if you're near Newark Penn Station!

Went to Mompou for the first time, as we had a late flight out of Newark. We were pleased with the venue, the service, and the food. Good variety of tapas, and we liked all we tried. Had eggplant, dates with bacon, cod croquettes, and chorizo. Sangria was good, as well. Free parking after pm, too
The Ironbound area of Newark is home to many excellent authentic Portuguese and Spanish restaurants. Make sure to explore along or around Ferry Street. The cuisine here is truly comforting, with generous portion sizes. The food at Mompou was fresh and delicious.
Way under staffed. Service awful. Worst dish of charred Octopus I've ever had the misfortune of ordering. Rubbery, bland and not one iota of char. GROSS
We had the private room downstairs for a party of Everyone enjoyed their meals and the staff was attentive. Definitely plan on going back again soon
