We went their last year after hearing the good reviews. We were expecting some authentic Mexican food. Ordered two take outs, there were no customers and still it took them a long time to get the food ready. Also, the portion was way too small compared to other Mexican restaurants and the take out food prep was poor too! We did not like the customer service as she was unfriendly. We really wanted to like the place. Not sure why we didn’t like anything other than the look of the restaurant. May be it was a one time thing given it’s got so many good reviews! We might give them another try and will update the review if we like it!
Authentic Mexican Perfection! With all of the wonderful memories we have coming with our Grandma, plus the quality of the food and the gracious welcoming owner, this is one of our favorite restaurants in all of Connecticut! Outstanding food, salsa is excellent. Small place but very clean. Friendly staff, large clean bathroom. We had tacos with rice and beans, I had al pastor, husband had chicken. All were delicious. Parking could potentially be an issue, we happened to park on a side street directly beside the restaurant and it was fine but there are signs and a map inside telling you where to park to avoid being towed.
Monte Alban may not officially hold a 5-star rating, but I truly believe they deserve it. The restaurant is clean, including the restrooms, and the service is exceptional. The standout for me was the food; I sampled the Nachos and Carnitas from the menu, and both dishes were delicious and fulfilling. I will certainly return whenever I'm craving Mexican cuisine.

Even though it's a small and unpretentious place, the food was fresh, tasty, and served in ample portions. The service was prompt and welcoming. I visited on a quiet weekend evening and found a table without any trouble, but by the time I left, every table was occupied and there was a wait for seating. I will definitely return to try more items from the menu!
I really prefer this Mexican restaurant over others I've visited. The Nacho Supreme is one of my top favorite dishes. My family frequently gets the Taco Meal, and everything is always fresh and delicious. The owners and staff are consistently friendly and courteous. The restaurant is also clean and well-maintained, creating a lovely atmosphere.
Although the restaurant is a hole in the wall, the food was fresh, tasty and generous. The service was quick and friendly. I went on an early weekend night and had no problem finding a table, but at the time I left, all the tables were full and the people were waiting for place. I will definitely return to try other items on the menu!
This is an excellent choice for Mexican cuisine! I can't believe how close it is to my home, and I had no idea it was here. I really enjoyed the nachos grande and enchiladas. We'll definitely be coming back!
