"just what you want... a cool place in a hot summer day, by a beautiful waterfall and mill. The way of the grotto is exactly "my way"... not a huge menu (but certainly wide enough to make everyone happy) and fingerlicking good, typical food. The waitresses are extremely friendly and speak all kinds of languages, especially english as if it were their mother tongue! way to go! we ll be back!try the ossobuco, the donkey and the risotto!"

Just the walk from the parking lot to front door makes the Grotto worth it. It felt like walking home to see your family. The difference is that my family could never cook food this amazing. The four of us enjoyed ourselves immensely. Upon tasting our own dish, we had to try each other's to see if they were just as delicious. They were. The service was an awesome mix of professional elegance and homespun warmth. When we finished our meal, the owner/chef came out to ensure that we had enjoyed ourselves. His genuine interest in our experience and the pride in his work was apparent in our conversation. You would be hard pressed to find another restaurant to match the exceptional quality of the...

From the start of this season this grotto has new owners, Peter the cook and Marian the lady of the house. We were there a evening in June, to cold to sit outside, The inside of the restaurant is surly not our style, but we were welcomed by a very friendly lady. I had chicken in a special way as starter very tasty. After that my wife had the Trout fume which was really superb, and I had the lam rack also very good and tasty.we had really a good evening and were both surprised by the good quality of the food.service was good and friendly. To arrive just follow the sign with the name of this grotto you can't miss it!

The grotto is not easy to find, on a windy road above Losone. There is a covered area with stone tables to sit outside, but it was too cold the evening we came. The restaurant area is typically Tessin style, with all the items you would expect in the room and at the wall. The waitress was friendly. The menu features typical Tessin specialties and the risotto and Osso bucco we had were excellent. The wine list was decent as well, so we chose a local one.Since the grotto is located in a valley we would come back next time in summer, when the air in the evening is warmer, to be able to sit outside, close to a creek.

Somebody said that grottos are good hideaways during the warm seasons. Well, not only, and in particular not in this case. Maybe it's because the Mulin di Ciöss ain't a typical grotto, in the sense that the food and the service are of a higher level, maybe it's because the new owners are such great hosts, maybe it's because everyone, including your pets, is always very welcome, or is it because of the cozy atmosphere and the great decor setup for this holiday season?
