Took a while for staff to come over and serve us. However once we caught their attention, the waitress was helpful with our order. They have an offer on for starters and a cocktail pitcher. The space is cosy, warm and welcoming and ideal for a catch up with friends. Only table service is allowed and cannot order at the bar due to COVID restrictions. Staff wore masks and seating was socially distanced.
Food and drink is cheap but it has some undesirable characters that tend to visit. Probably because of the cheap booze. Had a table of 14 year old looking girls, swearing away and shouting across the restaurant. All the apple juice gave them a sugar rush and made them lose their minds. Not the restaurants fault, though.

had a meal here on Saturday...bit doubtful to begin with..as not too many people there..ab ordered eating and drinks with a friendly barkeeper who then brought them to our table. Eating was really good and also nice and hot....good value for money. many people visit here until we get away. would be here to visit again. Book a table now
came today to lunch and service was brilliant! had a few problems with the app but with the help of zoe it was solved very quickly! it is a great roll for the team and very friendly. will be back.
I absolutely love Yates! I always feel safe and comfortable there. It's the only place I would go to in Colchester, and the atmosphere is beautiful.
