This is a tough review to write, maybe my most difficult! During our holiday, we were taste-testing Fish N Chips around Scotland. On our first visit to Nardini’s, I loved the Fish N Chips—this is why we returned. Although the food was good on this first visit, the service was poor to average. When we returned, it was a nightmare. We arrived just after 11 a.m. and hoped to have lunch and ice cream outdoors again. We were told we could only be seated outdoors if we were buying ice cream in their ice cream shop. Since we wanted Fish N Chips first, we were directed to an indoor table, planning to have Fish N Chips again, ice cream later. When we attempted to order, we were told they were only se...

We were excited to try this restaurant, but unfortunately, the young waiter we encountered was quite grumpy. There were very few other customers, yet he did not greet us with an apology, just a mumbled "for 2." We were seated in the middle of the restaurant, where he quickly threw menus on the table and left. Despite feeling guilty for only ordering coffee and cake, we found the quality to be excellent and worth the price. However, we were unhappy to see a 10% tip added to our bill without prior notification. Tipping should be the customer's choice, not forced upon them. If Nardini's wants to include an automatic tip, they should ensure their staff provide friendly and professional service....
Yesterday, on a dreary winter day, we decided to venture out and ended up at Nardinis for lunch. The parking was convenient in the public car park nearby. The ambiance of the art deco seaside cafe, with a view of the stormy weather, was captivating. It felt just as enjoyable as visiting in the summer, without the crowds. We both ordered the fish and chips, a popular choice at this Italian cafe, and were pleasantly surprised. The dish was cooked perfectly, with just the right amount of grease. Each portion came with a side salad, coleslaw, and tartare sauce. The only downside was that the portion size was quite large, preventing us from indulging in a coffee and cake afterwards. Perhaps we'll...
Popped in for some sundaes with family and friends from out of town on a Saturday evening at 5 pm to be told there were no tables available (approximately 15 out of ~40 tables were occupied). Staff were rude and it was just a very odd experience. Having read other reviewer's experiences here on TripAdvisor and Google Reviews I can see that it's not an isolated incident. Nardini's has gone to pot, it died already at the turn of the millennium and it's obviously about to collapse again. The building has a legacy, but the management have ruined it. I'd strongly advise against giving Nardini's your business, it's just encouraging abysmal treatment of loyal customers. R.I.P. Book a table now
I enter to book a table for three..His demeanour was uninviting to say the least..when he took me yo the table..thew the menu down and walked away. I pointed out there was food crumbs on the seat..he lifted the seat and gave it a sort of bang. His intentions were to remove the crumbs. I pointed out that the food particals were still there, indeed all the chairs at out table were the same I pointed this out to him..he brushed his hand across the seat and said Is that good enough for you sarcastically and walked away. This is totally unacceptable behaviour. This manager will bring this cafe to it 's knees. I would NOT recommend this place for anyone
After a 3.5 hour hike Knock Hill in Largs, we decided to visit the famous Nardini's for well deserved classic old school treats. The building and decor is still very much the classic Art Deco Nardini's. It's a 70s look, everything still looks fresh and nothing looks old. The we shared a homemade minestrone soup and sandwich plus one dessert each, the Chocolate Peanut Butter Sundae and a Chocolate/Vanilla two scoop. The sundae was delicious, peanut butter and chocolate is a fantastic combination. I alway try to visit Nardini's whenever I'm in Largs. It never fails to satisfy.
My friend and I stopped for lunch on December 30th. I ordered a baked potato with prawns in a Marie Rose sauce. Unfortunately, the potato was unevenly cooked and hard in some areas, the prawns were overcooked and rubbery, and the sauce had a fake taste. I ended up leaving most of my meal. We also wanted to see the dessert and cake menu, but the staff took too long to come back to take our order. We ended up running out of time and had to pay for our main dishes and leave.
Very busy Saturday afternoon and all staff seemed to be running about madly trying there best serve everyone but still had smiles in their faces. Really could have done with more staff but seems to be a shortage in a lot of places nowadays. Food took a bit longer than normal to come out but you don’t mind that when it’s freshly made if you want fast food go to McDonald’s. Had fish and chips followed by ice cream. Was all yummy. We went here last year just for takeaway ice creams, so this year we decided to go for the sundae’s. We were welcomed by very friendly and kind staff and the restaurant area was clean and had a nice atmosphere. Large range of choices made it difficult to choose! The ice cream sundae’s we chose were delicious. We will definitely be going back when we are back in the area and would recommend.
