I recently revisited this Chinese restaurant in Finnieston before a night out and was not disappointed. The interior may be basic, but the food more than makes up for it. Seeing Chinese students dining in was a good sign and indicated that the food was authentic. I tried the Chicken and Black Bean dish this time, and it was delicious. It seems like they may have a new chef, but the taste was still just as great as I remembered. The portions were generous and filled me up nicely before a few drinks. My friends tried the crispy shredded beef, which was also a large portion. I will definitely be returning soon.
We sat in a few weeks ago with my family, I ordered the vegan vegetarian rice noodle dish and my husband got the crispy beef with rice. The kids got noodles and chips. Service was great and good for the price, it’s casual dining and a good place to visit if wanting to get some food before visiting the Hydro. We were taking the kids to a show at the hydro the day we went and it’s only 10 min walk. Saved paying £8 a burger in the hydro!!! Highly recommend this little gem on Argyle street. We will be back.
My family and I were staying at a nearby hotel and got takeaway from this place one night. I was pleasantly surprised. It’s not the best Chinese food I have ever had but it’s better than average and the prices were quite reasonable. No complaints at all. If I return to Glasgow I would get takeaway from this place again if I needed a meal for my family.
I ordered a set meal this evening with a starter and a main. Upon arrival, the chips was the smallest I have ever seen (occupied 1/4 of the paper bag). I've never seen such a small portion. It could have filled a coffee cup. The food was alright but this is he first time I've ever finished a two course meal and still felt hungry afterwards.

The food at this restaurant was disappointing overall. The salt and chilli chips were lacking in flavor and mostly comprised of onions and peppers. The beef dish had a similar issue, with the majority of it being onions and peppers. The dishes were basic western Chinese food and did not justify their high prices.
The New Golden Bell is now offering takeout and still as authentic as ever. The fresh prawns in a spicy Szechuan sauce were bursting with flavor, and the plain chow mein was delicious and not overly salted. Despite being very busy, all the drivers were observing social distancing guidelines.
Ordered a whole duck and got what was, at best, half. (see pic) £27 The sweet chilli sauce is very watered down. The pork sui mai is deep fried not steamed. Weird. There was no email address to complain and provide photo so I am here.
Wonderful, fresh, beautifully cooked Chinese food. Vast selection: vegetarian and vegan dishes- especially the tofu ones are excellent. Fast , pleasant service ,big helpings and great value for money. A must!

Ordered a takeaway from here and it was lovely. We tried out the vegan options, tofu curry and tofu in satay sauce. Everything was amazing. Will be back again when we’re in Glasgow.
Best Chinese I’ve had in a long time; salt and chilli chicken was top notch, partner said chicken satay was best she had.
