My wife and I make it a point to visit this restaurant at least once a month. The food is some of the best in East Texas. While it may not be ideal for those who aren't fans of fried foods, there are plenty of options to choose from. I am updating this review to mention that they now serve some of the finest refried beans I've ever tasted. If you think refried beans and fish don't pair well, you really need to try theirs — you won't be disappointed! As for the service, it's excellent, but be prepared for a crowd between 5 PM and 7 PM. We ordered lunch, and I found the prices very reasonable, ranging between $1 and $10 per person. As for the food, it was outstanding! I would rate it a perfect 5 out of 5. The service also deserves a 5 for its efficiency and friendliness. The atmosphere, even for takeout, felt welcoming; I’d give it a strong 5 as well. The food is outstanding, but the service is noticeably slow. The server explained that grilling takes a while. I hope they can improve the speed of service, as people often get hungry, especially with the tempting aromas of the delicious food in the air.

The fish and shrimp were exceptional! The hush puppies were wonderful, and the homemade fries were delicious as well. I ordered the number one dish and I highly recommend New Pier!
