We were on our way to Inverness and decided to stop for dinner at 6pm. We ordered shredded chili beef, pancake rolls, fries, and a special chow mein dish. However, what we received was not what we expected. The shredded chili beef was actually deep fried batter strips in a tasteless watery red soup, the pancake rolls were flavorless empty dough rolls, and the fries were hollow and tasteless. The chow mein had some flavor, but it was not up to par. Overall, the meal was disappointing. People in Ballater must have simple tastes.
One of the tastiest sweet n sours we have had to go along with one of the toughest BBQ spare ribs we have ever had that would have been maybe 2 stars if they tasted ok but the did not. Chicken satay was rather tough n chewy, I think it had been defrosted and heated too long in the microwave. I feel sorry for the people of Ballater if they are stuck with this Chinese. Gave them a year hoping they would improve but no they are still one of the poorest Chinese takeaways I have had the mistake of trying more than once.
Drove from Braemar as we were desperate for a takeaway. First time trying this place. Ordered the mixed starters, chicken in oyster sauce and chicken foo yung. Was a good 15-20 drive back to Braemar but food was still piping hot. Got to say this was one of the tastiest Chinese takeaways we have ever had. All food super fresh, plenty of tender chicken and oozing flavour! Every takeaway has a bad day, please, give it a try….we’ll definitely be back!
This restaurant serves one of the most delicious sweet and sour dishes we've ever had, but unfortunately, the BBQ spare ribs were extremely tough. Overall, we were not impressed with the food quality and feel sorry for the residents of Ballater if this is their only Chinese restaurant option.

Have eaten here several times. The overall experience has been superb. I have no respect for the people here who are attempting to make a career by leaving damaging reviews. If the food is that bad then complain at the time and ask for a refund. It is cowardly, dishonest and utterly disrespectful to eat the food and then leave a bad review! Why not stay at home and learn to cook?
Food seemed nice enough, however woke up this morning to discover my vegetable spring rolls actually contained chicken. Considering the whole meal was supposed to be vegetarian this is incredibly off putting. I’ve spent this morning being sick thanks to this. If you have dietary requirements or food allergies make sure to avoid this place.
We visited the New Shanghai Chinese takeaway while in Ballater. The special curry was the best we have ever had. The meat was plentiful and tender and at least 4 king prawns in each curry. The sauce was perfect, medium/hot and plenty of it. At £6.30 each price was very reasonable for a tourist town. Would recommend
Must be the worst Chinese takeaway ever..... The salt chilli ribs were brick hard impossible to chew, the beef curry had 4 bits of unchewable beef, the chips were hard reheats, have had Chinese all over the UK and will never return back here......

The service at this restaurant is excellent. They always call before your order is ready for pickup, and the portions are generous. I highly recommend it.
Top Chinese. Its rare you can eat a Chinese without requiring 5 pints of water afterwards. This place is yummy and without the bad stuff. We'll done
