Being out of town, finding a place to enjoy good food can feel like a gamble. We were thrilled with our experience at Nicoletta's. We were seated right away, our server was friendly, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Our meals were delicious. We started with the calamari, which was lightly fried and made for a great appetizer. I was delighted to learn I could order a half-and-half pizza, as I was torn between all the tempting options. I chose the Calabrese and Margherita, and both were fantastic. One pizza is definitely more than enough for two people, and I was pleased to take home leftovers. We kicked off our meal with Lotte’s Lemonade and the Smoky Margarita, both of which were refreshingly delicious! Since we were eating before the exhibit, we opted for appetizers and ordered the Burrata and Calamari Chop Salad. My memory of the Burrata was spot on; it's still the best I've ever had! The calamari was perfectly seasoned, and the Pomodoro sauce was delightfully tangy, with just the right hint of garlic, onion, and a touch of lemony brightness.
The chop salad was dressed impeccably in an outstanding herb vinaigrette that gently enveloped the romaine and radicchio, accompanied by tasty bites of provolone, prosciutto, olives, peppadews, and chickpeas. I can’t recommend Nicoletta’...
Everything was great with my visit. The restaurant appeared clean, we were greeted and seated immediately, the food was delivered quickly, and service was attentive and friendly throughout. We had the 14-inch traditional Classico pizza with pepperoni and sausage, torta, and the chocolate chip plate. The pizza was fresh and tasted good, with a unique flavor from other pizzas. The torta is was vert tart, but it was prepared well. The chocolate chip cookies were warm and delicious.
We dined at Nicoletta twice with family during our 4 days stay in Washington DC. The food was delicious and the restaurant wasn’t far from the Fairfield hotel in Chinatown. We understand that we arrived just 30 minutes before closing, but there was no need to be rude. We walked in but left shortly after because of the unpleasant attitude.
The food is excellent, but unfortunately, the service was quite poor, similar to many places in the USA, due to a lack of training among the waitstaff.
Not an Italian restaurant (pizza closed to American pizza and chicken wings on the menu) and pricey for the quality of the food served
