I've been visiting North Star Cafe for quite some time and have always had a great experience. This visit was no exception! As soon as you walk in, you're welcomed by friendly waitstaff and cashiers. The food is delicious, but I did notice that the bathrooms could use some improvement. They have an unsettling vibe as soon as you open the door. The smell in the women's restroom is quite overwhelming and unpleasant. Additionally, the lighting could be brighter.
I haven 't gone in a while. Ordered ricotta pancakes, the mushroom frittata, biscuit with jam for my self and daughter for carryout, as she is sick. Biscuit overcooked and very dry and crunchy, no butter or jam with it. The frittata was also way overcooked. The pancakes were good. Probably won 't be going back. I have noticed they haven 't been as good and they are very expensive. I know its organic but $19 for overcooked eggs isn 't worth it to me.
This restaurant seems to attract customers primarily for its aesthetic appeal and perhaps its name, rather than for the food. I used to enjoy the mushroom frittata, but every bite was overpowered by oil. The breakfast sandwich was equally disappointing—bland and lacking any flavor, and the hot sauce didn't improve it. The only redeemable aspect was the breakfast potatoes, although they are also quite overpriced.
I ordered the Northstar, and it was bland. The tip is automatically added, which seems to be standard these days. In this case, it wasn’t a bad thing, as the young woman who brought a requested box to our table seemed indifferent. If she were relying on tips, she definitely wouldn’t have earned one from us. Went for the first time, did not realize it was counter service, so that was a bit of a surprise, heads up. Felt a bit Got the Thai chicken wrap, which was good and filling, though it was a bit too heavy on the rice compared to the rest of the ingredients, especially given the cost.
SUCH good food and I love how they have so many gluten free options! The staff are very friendly too. Dietary restrictions: Many many gluten free and vegan options
Although the cafe is lively, the decor is all hard surfaces. To minimize noise get a booth in an alcove. And order pizza!
