A sign of a good restaurant to me is the size of the menu: a few items means the chef focuses her attention on perfecting those this was certainly the case here! The guidebooks all say the region of Alentago has Portugal’s best food and this restaurant has the best food , please don’t miss out. This gem in Valverde came recommended by the staff at the megaliths site. While I agree there are two signs saying reservations only, when we asked if we could eat lunch, we were seated. Of the 7 items on the lunch menu, we chose the roast lamb and black pork, as they are specialties of the region. From farm to table, local products, market menu, lunches only. Every day there is a choice of fish or meat cooked with vegetables straight from their own farm. We had Tomato Fish soup and we enjoyed it very much. A tasty large serving of soup, on a separate plate large portions of fish, tomatoes and potatoes. Thinly slices of bread in a basket. Put all this together in your dish enjoy ! It's colourful, it's tasty. I will be back.
We found this lovely restaurant quite by chance on our hunt for lunch after visiting the cromeleques. Beautifully situated on a very productive farm, the restaurant is beautiful and peaceful. The owner’s daughter served us a delicious tomato based soup with home made bread and another dish of fish and potatoes intended to be eaten together. We ordered one serving and it was more than enough for two people. Absolutely delicious.
Uma espécie de pastelaria que está aberta durante a noite. Os bolos são produzidos ali e distribuídos por outros locais mais tarde, no entanto existe um balcão no local onde podemos ser servidos com produtos a praticamente a sair dos fornos. Gastronomia de excente qualidade, muita simpatia e profissionalismo no atendimento. Para quem gosta de comida Alenteja, muito bem confeccionada e acompanhar com um bom vinho, produzido pelos proprietários, não pode perder a oportunidade de ir ao restaurante Ricardo. Recomendo vivamente.
