For our main course, we both had a Cornish pasty. In Northern Michigan, these are as common as burgers, but this version featured a light and flaky pastry shell instead of the dense, hard shortcrust pastry I'm used to. The filling, made with meat, potatoes, and rutabaga, was well-made, tender, and tasty. The wild rice cake that accompanied it was different—somewhat denser than expected, causing the wild rice flavor to get a bit lost.

We've been frequenting this restaurant for years, but I have never felt so ripped off and disappointed by a meal. Our bill came to $200 for four people, and one person didn’t even order a main course. We only had one glass of wine, two sodas, and water—no desserts at all. The chicken teriyaki was inedible—basically old chicken strips slathered in bottled sauce. The scallops were a disturbing mush of ground scallops mixed with gelatinous cream, with just a few whole mushrooms thrown in. Students cook and serve the public. Food is normally always good service varies with the waiter or server waiting on you. I feel before every me the servers need to be reminded to always be vigilant to the needs of the customer. IR: are they waiting to order Are they waiting for desert, the bill, more bread or drinks.

Captain's Table is a student run restaurant that serves lunch and dinner on Thursday's when school is in session. The cost is 14 dollars for a 3 course meal. Tipping is encouraged and is used to go to a nice dinner at the end of the semester. Reservations are required and they frequently sell out.
The students put in a lot of effort and are doing an excellent job learning about the food service industry. Every visit is a unique experience, filled with the opportunity to try new foods!
Great bang for the buck. Quality food and a nice variety of choices . Very friendly service from the students. The dining room table setting is dressed like an upscale restaurant.
