During my trip to Edinburgh, we made a reservation at this restaurant with a nice view from our window seat, despite the bad weather outside. The atmosphere was relaxed with only a few tables occupied. For starters, we ordered the clam chowder which was full of delicious ingredients, creamy, and served with crunchy sourdough bread. My mother had the mushroom and tarragon soup from the specials menu, which warmed us up on a cold autumn day. Our main course was mussels, which was enjoyable but could have been a larger portion for the price. The fish and chips were crispy and of premium quality, although we felt it could have used some mushy peas or garnish. Some of the chips seemed like scraps...

The front staff guy was unable to arrange as per my request for my wife birthday celebration via booking earlier on our arrival day but actually the front staff guy was able to do that. The front staff guy with blonde hair hand tattoo behaved unfriendly/rude to us as asian foreigner customers who came to experience/support this restaurant. The fish chip is not good we can get good fish chip in city centre. Seriously, they need to look into this for better improvement in F B/service industry. Due to this unpleasant experience who spoiled the important day of my wife birthday celebration, definitely we will not go back or recommend this restaurant to anyone.
We enjoyed a delicious meal at this restaurant. The seafood was fresh and the flavors were great. The service was very friendly. The variety of beers available was greater than what you typically find in most pubs in Edinburgh. Our table in the main part of the restaurant had stunning views overlooking the Firth of Forth. Despite the wild weather that day, we were able to admire the ever-changing view from the comfort of this cozy pub.
I've been here years ago and hoped it would be as good now. It is. Excellent real ale keg beers and all the wines, deities you'd expect. The food is very good too. Obviously a proper chef in a proper kitchen. My roast beef was rather tough, but it didn't spoil my visit. The high dpot though is the location. And specifically the view across the Forth. If you can get a table in the bar area, and the weather is kind, it's fantastic. Book a table now
Had an excellent meal here with my husband. We also had our three dogs with us. They were very dog friendly. The staff were lovely and friendly. The food was really delicious. I had the Shetland mussels as a main course. My husband had the hunters chicken burger and the squid starter. All lovely well cooked and tasty. And the view is fantastic. Well worth a visit.
Run by a bunch of staff that really don’t want to be there! Last orders at 830! But they really just want you out! Another table was told last orders at 813! Then you see them post on their Facebook the attached post! This is what happens when you put drunks in charge of a bar! Won’t be back!
Ordered fish and chips £17 Fish was very nicely fried, tasty and crunchy batter, however the frozen par fries really let my meal down , I complained to the waiter. Next time I will ask before ordering.
The food, the service and the views across the Firth Of Forth are excellent, you must go! To use up the 100 characters I can add that there’s a bus stop just right across the road. Book a table now
We are from Newhaven and frequent this restaurant often. The food is exceptional, especially the dishes, and the outdoor seating area is perfect for enjoying a coffee.
Reservation highly suggested. The view and food were excellent. We had Haddock and fries ….perfection. The Bruschetta appetizer was fantastic. Great dining experience.
