Oliver's Fish Chip Redcar

From the outset, I want to be clear, the staff here were wonderful, and the food was good chippy standard. (A little overpriced, but that's probably due to the economy more than the owners . My dining companions had the seafood platter, and both thoroughly enjoyed it. My F'n'c's were good. Nice fresh fish and plenty of tasty proper chips. Now, here are the gripes: My MiL had tried to book but been told she couldn't book, only to be told when we arrived that we should have booked! Then we were told we couldn't make a booking for that lunchtime on person‍ The waitress epads don't have the full menu on them, so the poor waitress has to do part on the pad then run downstairs to do the rest. Visited yesterday with my Brother and Boyfriend. Absolutely loved the place, the decor is fun and quirky (gonna need that Seagull ornament btw haha) very beach and seaside themed. Plus if you sit downstairs you can see the sea. Loved the veggie selection, lots to choose from. Staff are friendly, attentive, chatty and polite. Was served promptly. Food arrived quickly and portions are big so be hungry haha. Everything freshly prepared and cooked. My Boyfriend had the Haddock and chips, demolished it he loved it, the quality and freshness can't be beaten (he is a chef so he knows) would highly recommend. Toilets are clean and well maintained. Loved it would definitely return. Vegetarian options...

Always busy even when they open at 11.30. If you go early you have to queue to get in even though there are tables free but this is regulate the delivery of freshly prepared food to customers. We've never been disappointed by the food or the service. It is possible to reserve a table for the time of your choosing and there is one clean toilet available. Wheelchairs are catered for. There is seating upstairs as well as downstairs. I recommend upstairs if you are lucky enough to get a table by the windows. Really enjoyed our fish and chips at the restaurant at Oliver's. Everything tasted super fresh, portions were generous, the service was swift and the restaurant itself was a very pleasant place to be. Will definitely be back! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
